A Kid-friendly Kitchen Island
It is truly impossible to make the kitchen kid-free but it possible to make it accident-free or have fewer accidents with children. One way to achieve this is turning it into a kid-friendly place. To accomplish this, come up with a makeover for the kitchen island that will lure children to stay put and hence, behave well while in the kitchen.
The kitchen island is one of the largest fixtures in the kitchen. Usually, it is the center where appliances and other kitchen things are placed around. This is why it is the ideal spot for children to stay at while in the kitchen. To start making it into kid-friendly, make sure there are no fragile materials like glass placed on it and sharp objects loitering on it. Next, place and fasten on it a large brown paper enough to cover most of its surface. Pull out and place this large paper every time a kid enters the kitchen. For toddlers, remember to secure them also into a high chair. After these are all set, hand over a plastic canister of coloring materials which he can use to draw on the large paper.
In this, he will be very busy for a long time as he tries to draw and cover a large part of the paper. This will then give you enough time to work on the sink or stove. Turning your kitchen island into a toddler’s drawing desk once in a while can help you do your kitchen duties better and faster while watching your child closely
